A charming young family with three children approached us with a request to create a cozy studio apartment in Moscow where they could stay during their visits. Although their main place of residence is a private house, their daily work routine and frequent flights forced them to seek temporary shelter in hotels, which, alas, could not offer the necessary amenities. Therefore, we approached the design with their temporary but comfortable stay in mind, while maintaining the possibility for the children to move here permanently in the future.

Visualization

The 2.9-meter-high ceilings create a pleasant feeling of spaciousness. The interior is designed in noble black tones at the request of the customers. We added warm lighting along the floor in shadow profiles and used RGB lighting on the ceiling, which allows you to change the atmosphere depending on your mood.

The layout of the apartment was decided in an unusual way: instead of classic partitions, we used furniture to zone the space. In the hallway, there is a cabinet, moved away from the wall, behind which a storage room and a technical area for the electrical panel were formed. Access to them is through a high sliding door, hidden in the color of the walls, creating the impression of a hidden space.

In the living room, we made a guest bedroom with a transformable closet that easily turns into a bed above the sofa. Between the living room and the bedroom, there is a closet with ribbed glazing along the entire perimeter, which lets daylight into the living room, creating a sense of privacy in the bedroom. Sliding partitions made of similar glass not only imitate a closet when closed, but also zone the bedroom if necessary. When opened, the space regains its integrity, the partitions are neatly placed on the wall of the bedroom and closet, remaining unnoticeable.

The kitchen, although small, is equipped with all the necessary amenities: a built-in dishwasher, a refrigerator, a microwave oven in combination with an oven, and a bottle rack. The dining area is decorated with a semi-bar table made of quartz stone, which comfortably accommodates the whole family and allows you to easily move around it. The TV is located on the edge of the wall, unnoticeable at the entrance, with a swivel bracket for viewing from different points of the apartment: from the sofa, from the bedroom and from the kitchen.

For work, we turned the balcony into a comfortable office, which is especially valuable considering the customer’s husband’s profession, who is involved in construction.

The bathroom has open upper shelves, which add a sense of spaciousness and lightness. The finishing touch of the project was a self-leveling floor made of microcement with elegant light streaks, giving the interior uniqueness and style.
